The Popokotea/New Zealand Whitehead is a small songbird with a big voice. Living in noisy groups of 8 or more, they are found only in the North Island of Aotearoa, preferring the canopy of tall native forest and dense bushland. Despite a dramatic decline in the late 19th century, the Popokotea population is abundant today.
